Course Overview: This Graphic Design Fundamentals course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive introduction to the world of graphic design. Whether you’re a beginner or have some prior experience, this course will equip you with the essential skills and knowledge to create visually appealing and effective designs for various media, including print and digital.

Course Objectives:

  1. Introduction to Graphic Design: Gain a deep understanding of the principles and elements of graphic design, including layout, typography, color theory, and composition.
  2. Adobe Creative Suite: Learn how to use industry-standard graphic design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign to create and manipulate images, illustrations, and layouts.
  3. Visual Communication: Explore the art of visual storytelling and effective communication through images, symbols, and text.
  4. Typography: Master the art of selecting and arranging fonts to convey the right message and aesthetics in your designs.
  5. Color Theory: Understand the psychology of color and its impact on design, and learn how to create harmonious color schemes.
  6. Design Process: Develop a structured design process, from concept ideation and sketching to final execution and presentation.
  7. Layout and Composition: Create balanced and visually pleasing layouts for various design projects, including posters, brochures, and web pages.
  8. Image Editing and Manipulation: Learn to retouch and enhance photographs, create digital illustrations, and work with vector graphics.

No prior graphic design experience is required. Basic computer literacy and access to Adobe Creative Suite software are recommended.

Course Duration:

This is a 12-week course, meeting twice a week for two-hour sessions, with additional lab time for project work.
